Social Security Attorney Fees
Attorney fees in Social Security Disability and SSI cases are covered by statutes and regulations. Fees are subject to review by the Social Security Administration. In order to represent a claimant, both the claimant and the attorney must sign an Appointment of Representative (Form 1696). Both the claimant and the attorney also sign a fee agreement, pursuant to the guidelines of the Social Security Act and regulations of the Social Security Administration.
As of June 22, 2009, the Social Security Commissioner set the maximum attorney fee in Social Security Disability and SSI cases at $6,000.00.
